What is the role of automotive high-voltage lines

Definition:

The high-voltage wire of a car is a "wire" with an "insulation" device that transmits electricity through the ignition coil for the spark plug to ignite, so that the engine does work. The structure is not complicated. Wrap a layer of high-strength insulator. It can have good insulation and internal transmission and conductive functions at high and low temperatures.

The current transmitted inside the high-voltage line is very small, and the metal wires inside it are not required. However, the voltage of the high-voltage line is relatively high, generally about 10,000 volts. Therefore, it requires high external insulators. The decrease in insulation strength may cause leakage and damage to other electrical systems or high-voltage systems.

Model function:

High voltage line is divided into resistance type and non-resistance type:

Resistive type:

The magnitude of its resistance value is different according to the design of various high-voltage output systems, some of which are only a few hundred ohms, and some reach more than 10K. This resistance is called "current-limiting resistance" in electrical. The purpose of designing a resistor is to prevent high-voltage current from damaging the electronic components of the high-voltage output system due to aging or quality reasons.

Function:

Generally, the ignition resistance of automobile spark plugs is about 20 ~ 50M. Relative to the high-voltage line resistance is very large. Basically, the resistance value of the high-voltage line current limiting resistor can even be "negligible", but when the high voltage is accidentally short-circuited, the current limiting resistance limits the current The high voltage system can withstand the range without being damaged.

Therefore, one of the functions of the high-voltage line resistance is to protect the normal operation of the ignition system and the vehicle electrical system.

Secondly, it can increase the ignition voltage. When the spark plug deposits too much carbon, it will cause electric leakage and cause misfire. With the resistance, the ignition voltage is increased, and it is easier to penetrate the spark gap to make the spark strength reach normal. In addition, there are resistance-type high-voltage lines for current distribution of high-voltage distribution.

The third is to prolong the discharge time of the spark plug and improve the ignition rate. When the spark plug is broken down, the resistance is very small. Because the resistance in the high-voltage path limits the maximum current, the same amount of power takes longer to discharge. Finish.

Unobstructed:

Unimpeded high voltage line means that the resistance of the high voltage line is "zero", but it does not mean that the resistance of the high voltage output path is zero, but this resistance is connected in series elsewhere, such as:

(1) Connected in series in the secondary coil of high voltage transformer;

(2) At the center electrode of the spark plug (there is a ceramic resistor in the spark plug pole, this type of spark plug is also called resistance type spark plug)

(3) Use the DC resistance of the secondary coil of the ignition coil as the "damping current limiting resistor".

A certain resistance is connected in series in the non-resistance high-voltage path. This resistance can be in the high-voltage line. At this time, the high-voltage line is high-resistance. It can also be used in other places.

Replacement principle:

1. The original high-voltage line is usually purchased after sale. If other brands or other models are used by mistake, the high-voltage line may be damaged or the electrical equipment may be damaged due to the resistance value.

2. There is no selection of the original model. To compare the parameters of the original high-voltage line, there is resistance or non-resistance type. Through comparison and selection of appropriate high-voltage lines, only professional technicians can distinguish this.
